  1. Reflection: Seventh Grade

    May 12, 2014 by sanjanal622

When I first arrived in August I expected my seventh grade year to be a very long and hard year. I had volleyball tryouts, choir and I felt like I had many new responsibilities. But soon I realized that the seventh grade year wasn’t all the bad. I loved volleyball, my teachers were pretty nice and I felt like I could really manage everything. By October, my life was not bad at all. It was actually pretty fun! I eventually realized that the year has gone by pretty fast and wasn’t hard at all. In seventh grade I learned how to keep my grades up, how to work harder toward what I want and how go make better choices. As the year comes to a close I realize that seventh grade had a lot of good memories. I’ve made a lot new friends and learned a lot. If I had to re-live a part of seventh grade, it would probably be volleyball Season because it was so fun! My advice the next years sixth graders would be to work hard and get through seventh grade. Seventh grade may be really fun and you can learn so much!

  2. Conquer Your Fears

    May 2, 2014 by sanjanal622

There it was, the thing that made my body shake all over with fear. The most terrifying thing that I wished I would never have to sit in, the seat of a rollercoaster. As I put my seatbelt on I thought again about what I was doing . Will I die? I thought. My heart skipped a beat when the coaster started moving. All I could hear was the joy and excitement of everyone around me and the noise of the rollercoaster as it went up the slope. Tick, tick, tick. To me it sounded like a clock counting down the last seconds of my life.

WHOOSH! Before I knew it, down the rollercoaster was going and my stomach was doing a hundred flips. At first it wasn’t actually that bad so I tried putting my hands in the air just like everybody else but once I did it felt like I was going to fall off! That rollercoaster fooled me though. After a few seconds I felt like a pinball machine! My head was hitting the sides of my seat and I was upside down! By now I was panicking and felt so scared. I shut my eyes and prayed for a long time that I would come off this rollercoaster alive. Suddenly I could feel the coaster slowing down. My heart beat was steady now and I suprisingly said to my brother “I want to do that again!” He raised his eyebrows at me knowing that through the whole thing I was scared. We’ll, I guess I liked how the rollercoaster made me feel fearless.

To this day I ride rollercoasters almost every time I see one. Instead of shaking all over with fear I now shake all over with trill and excitement. Whenever I look into the seat of a rollercoaster  I just want to hop right in! Ever since that one time I conquered my fear a few years ago I just want to conquer any fear I have now! So I guess my new slogan is “stop being afraid and just be fearless!”

  3. My Favorite Poem

    April 24, 2014 by sanjanal622

    Messy Room by Shel Silverstein
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater’s been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A lizard named Ed is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
Donald or Robert or Willie or–
Huh? You say it’s mine? Oh, dear,
    I knew it looked familiar!
I really like this poem because I can relate to it and it always makes me laugh. I also love Shel Silverstein because he has a good sense of humor and he makes his poems really fun to read.

  4. My Favorite Movie

    April 10, 2014 by sanjanal622

When I was little I just couldn’t  live with out my favorite movie! It was called Barbie As Rapunzel. Any time my friends came to my house I would always suggest that movie (I think they got bored watching it so much). I can still remember every person in the movie and everything that happened in order. My favorite character was of course Rapunzel. I loved her long hair, art skills and personality. I think I memorized every line when I was little!

  5. My City

    March 27, 2014 by sanjanal622

When you walk into my city, the dry grass will crunch under your shoes. The heat will give you a sunburn and the music will never stop. I live in Austin, Texas the most lively, exciting, musical, and wild place I have ever known.
The first thing I absolutely love about  Texas is its music. It has so many different music festivals, such as South by Southwest and ACL. Austin pretty much is known for its music. So next time you’re going on vacation, consider Austin because you will be able to relax and listen to music all night long.
Next, I love how people in Austin are so kind. No matter where you go you will always find nice people  to grant your needs. They aren’t like new Yorkers, and they aren’t rude. They are intelligent and kind. The population isn’t that bad so it is not as crowded but it still a very important and lively city.
In conclusion, Austin is great place to listen to music, meet new people  and relax. Its an amazing city and I am extremely glad to be a part of it!

  6. My Deathly Fear

    February 13, 2014 by sanjanal622

My most deathly fear is probably an elevator. Every time I see one my mind starts racing with questions, but the biggest question of all is—will it get stuck? Every time I see the silver doors close I pray that the elevator doesn’t get stuck. I can always imagine the long hole it’s in and the ropes and metal that hold it up. I make sure that the elevator has some kind of help button before I get in. Or at least I make sure I have my phone. If the elevator looks old and crusty I immediately turn around and head for the stairs.

  7. Expository Writing: Fear Is Harmful

    February 9, 2014 by sanjanal622

Your voice stutters, your heart starts beating faster and beads of sweat start trickling down your face. Don’t give into fear.

When your head is clouded with to much self judgment (from fear) you may think of what you may no accomplish. When you are back stage before a piano recital, Thoughts of failure flood your mind. you think, what fi I hit the wrong note? what if I fail? Fear can mess up what you can accomplish.

Another reason fear is harmful is that if you are nervous you may not do as well and your probably low on self confidence. For example, during your piano recital if you believe you’ll do it horribly and you get up on stage, Your fear will clog up your mind and you probably wont do as well as when you practiced. Just don’t let fear  take over when you want to accomplish something.

Next time you are scared, just take a deep breath and think to your self I can do this, don’t think of your faults- don’t think of messing It up. Just think about what you can achieve.

  8. Think Before You Do Something

    February 1, 2014 by sanjanal622

The pain was so traumatizing. I couldn’t bare it any longer. My leg felt as if it has just been run over by a train.

For some reason, I foolishly thought that I could do a cartwheel in a tiny space in my room. I put my hands on the round and kicked my legs high in the air. As I was coming down I heard a…THUNK. For a second I couldn’t feel my left leg. Then I felt it, the excruciating pain in my leg. I screamed in pain and looked down at my foot. I could see my leg starting to become bright red. the pain was radiating up my leg and the tears started tricking down my face. I got up with the last bit of energy I had and tried hopping to my bed. I felt as if I only had one leg, because I couldn’t eve walk. I laid in agony on my bed and thought to myself, Why did I just do something so dumb without even thinking? Later that day, my mom took me to the hospital and I just sat there in the ugly green painted x-ray room. My heart was pounding and my fingers were tapping nervously as I saw the doctor walk in. He said, “You have broken your foot and will need a cast.” I flinched at the word cast and my head almost exploded when he said for a whole month.

Even to this day, I still regret just doing something so carelessly without even going through it in my mind. I can still imagine the traumatizing pain. This mistake thought me to always think before I act.

  9. Snow

    January 27, 2014 by sanjanal622

Last year in Ohio I remember getting so excited about the snow that falls every year. I woke up early (for once) and joyfully looked outside. Then I saw it. The beautiful, glistening Blankets of snow waiting for me to make snow angles in.The bare trees with tiny icicles hanging from them. I could see the kids outside laughing with glee and throwing snowballs continuously. I could almost hear the Hot cocoa calling my name down stairs. I think to my self, Am I thinking too much about snow? Then I remember I live in Texas.

  10. Place

    December 17, 2013 by sanjanal622

I love feeling the warm breeze on my face when I open the gate doors to the pool. I see the dark green chairs waiting for me to relax in. I could smell the chlorine and see the glistening blue water. As me and my friends jump in we can feel the chill of the cold water splashing us. The sun is shining really bright and under the water we can see bubbles coming out of eachothers noses. We make funny faces at eachother and try to laugh under water. When we finish splashing and having fun we get out and cover our shivering bodies in towels. Swimming is always fun!
